Torgbui Korlikpo Tamakloe III, Paramount Chief of the Avee Traditional Area in the Volta Region has called on the electorate not to entertain politicians who campaign for power with abusive and inflammatory words.
He said the situation where politicians were at each other’s throat when they mounted platforms would not augur well for the country’s nurturing democracy.
Torgbui Tamakloe made the call at a meeting with the Accra-Tema Branch of the Avee Development Association in Accra on Sunday.
He said as the 2008 General Elections draws nearer, the electorate must also be watchful, and vote for God-fearing candidates who have the development of the nation at heart.
The Paramount chief also advised them not to sell their votes since by so doing, they would be denied the opportunity of exercising their franchise.
He also asked them to ensure that they go the polls and exercise their franchise on December 7 which falls on Sunday.
Torgbui Tamakloe advised the youth to abstain from indiscriminate sex in order not to contract the HIV/AIDS disease.
He called for peace and tolerance in the area as they celebrate this year’s Nordu Festival in November.
Miss Regina Dzogbenu, President of the Avee Development Association said the association had initiated a number of development projects which included the provision of a health post and KVIP.
She expressed the hope that the projects would soon be completed and called on the government for assistance.
