Mrs. Oboshie Sai-Coffie, Minister of Information and National Orientation has advised the media to focus much on research, which is a source of getting information on government's new policies, and disseminate to the public.Mrs. Sai-Coffie stated that media research have become very minimal which had caused a lot of misinformation and therefore tasked the media to research.She made these comments when she paid a courtesy call on Mr Phillip Kwesi Nkrumah, Chief Executive of Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly during a two-day working visit to the media houses in the Western Region.Mrs. Coffie said that SAEMA was the first to be visited as part of the ministry's "media walkabout programme" and was aimed at educating the public on national values, and instill their importance in the youth.She said the media tour is vital and as the bedrock for disseminating information to the public and interacting with the various media houses to ascertain their challenges.Mrs. Sai-Coffie said the focus on national orientation was also aimed at reviving several traditional and cultural practices that moulded children and ensure trust between adults and children.She used the opportunity to launch and play the maiden patriotic song for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.Mrs. Sai-Coffie therefore called on all Ghanaians to change their attitude and urged the media not to allow themselves to be used to peddle lies.Mr. Anthony Evans Amoah the Western Regional Minister stressed the fact that people in the region had the perception that the region has been abandoned.He said the region had improved in its road networks, education, health and communication.Mr. Amoah said that the Government is going to spend 50 billion cedis in the construction of a road network for the 18 cocoa growing areas in Ghana and added that the region would be benefiting from it and that 40 percent of the money would go into the region's road project.Mr. Amoah added that 150 billion cedis would be used in constructing Enchi-Asankragua road and therefore therefore appealed to the media to expose such developmental projects to the public for the people to debunk such perception from their mind.Source: GNA
