The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North East Region has urged its members to resist any form of intimidation ahead of the 2020 elections.
The Regional Chairman of the party, Alhassan Nantogmah, speaking to JoyNews, encouraged the party supporters to stand up against harassment from elements within the ruling party and the security agencies.
According to him, the call was necessitated by the failure of the police to deal with reports of abuse and intimidations of the party supporters in some border communities in the Chereponi and Bunkprugu constituencies.
The chairman cautioned that the party would use any means possible to stop its supporters from being intimidated in the lead-up to the general elections.
The Chairman was speaking over the weekend in Gambaga where the party held a ceremony to inaugurate the regional campaign team.
Also at the event, a statement was read on behalf of the NDC flagbearer John Mahama.
In the statement read by Prof Naana Ama Brown Klutse, the former President promised to prioritise primary healthcare, jobs and economic transformation if given the nod in the December polls.
He said the next NDC administration will restore Ghanaian domestic investment in the financial and banking sectors, pay contractors and make amends for those whose businesses were collapsed deliberately due to political victimisation.
