All New Year resolutions devoid of religious piety would fritter unfulfilled, Rev Frank Kwame Anku, Synod Clerk of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church has said in Ho.
He stressed that religious fervour and faithfulness to God were the tonics for the needed strength of purpose to pursue turn-of-year resolutions until they were achieved.
Rev Anku was delivering a sermon to a packed house at the SSNIT Flats EP Church in Ho to usher in the New Year.
He observed that many people were often at a loss why God seemed distant from them despite their supposed supplications, forgetting that they shirked every opportunity to help the needy.
Rev Anku said just as Jesus in the Bible dismissed those who refused to shelter, clothe, feed and support the seemingly insignificant people while they lived, the heaven gates would not open to bossy leaders who trample on their subordinate.
He expressed regret that many people placed in positions of authority tended to despise and manipulate their subordinates instead of providing direction and support to them.
"It does not matter what your status is but what you make out of it," he said and counselled, "don't feel too big or too rich to help others".
Rev Anku prayed that God gave Ghanaians the insight during the presidential and parliamentary elections later on in the year to elect the political leaders that only he (God) had chosen for the country.Source: GNA
