Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister has directed feeder road contractors who have abandoned their projects in the region to resume work within two weeks or their contracts would be terminated. He said it was unfortunate that some road contracts awarded since 2005 had not been completed giving the people an opportunity to criticize Government unduly. Mr Owusu-Ansah gave the directive when inspecting on-going road construction works in Amansie West District as part of an official tour. He inspected the construction of two storey girls' hostel for Mansoman Senior Secondary School at Manso-Atwere, which was also being delayed by the contractor, construction of an Enhanced Clinic with staff quarters at Akyerekyiekrom, construction of six-unit classroom block with two-unit water closets toilet at Bonsaaso and some development projects at Manso-Nkwanta. The Ashanti Regional Minister also inaugurated a 639.9 million six-unit classroom with four-seater KVIP place of convenience at Hiakose and 758.3 million-cedi two-unit teachers' accommodation at Groso. Addressing separate durbars with the chiefs and people, Mr Owusu-Ansah said Government was determined to improve the living standards of rural dwellers and would not discriminate in the provision of development projects throughout the country. He advised them to take advantage of Government's programmes and policies on education to send their children to school and encourage them to study hard to become useful citizens in future. Mr Owusu-Ansah urged them to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to receive affordable and quality health care delivery. Benjamin Kwakye-Adeefe, Amansie West District Chief Executive, commended the chiefs and people of Bonsaaso for embracing the Millennium Village Project and working assiduously towards it. Nana Ampofo Twumasi, Chief of Hiakose appealed to Government to rehabilitate the 20-kilometre Trabuom-Moseaso-Antoakrom road. Residents of Akyerekyiekrom appealed to Government to release a portion of the forest reserve in the area to them for farming.Source: GNA
