Barely a week after Rlg launched its latest smartphone, Uhuru Classic, the company’s online site has been inundated with orders from customers desirous of experiencing the mobile phone revolution.
Uhuru Classic was released onto the market through a dedicated product page at the Rlg Global website (www.rlgglobal.com) in a move planned to promote sales through online as part of strategies to stimulate cashless transaction (cash on delivery) across the continent.
The company is currently implementing an online payment gateway integration powered by a reliable global service provider in the UAE (http://www.network.ae) to ensure secured online payments via credit cards worldwide.
Company sources say close to 100 orders were received mainly from Ghanaians, perhaps an indication of growing interests in online business by people in the West African country.
Clients from Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi are said to have had their devices delivered to them based on online orders processed.
“Though online orders and processing are open to all irrespective of location, deliveries are restricted to only four cities for now; Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale”, Rlg Business Unit Head for Ghana, Nathaniel Jones explained.
“Within hours after our unveiling, our link was flooded with orders, mostly for the Uhuru Classic and other products such as the EasySport and Uhuru Tablets. Really impressed by the reception so far”, said the company’s Digital Marketing Manager, Ashraf Kanjo.
A unique feature of the Uhuru Classic is that users can have their names engraved on their phones when it is pre-ordered on the manufacturer’s website - www.rlgglobal.com.
The new Uhuru ranges of smart phones’ entry onto the phone market were dictated by consumer feedback and needs and it is already doing impressively well.
The new smartphone is also doing pretty well in the tourist destination of Dubai where it seems to be the toast of many device connoisseurs.
