The Road Maintenance Module under the National Youth Employment Programme has been extended to four other regions of the country as part of the Better Ghana Agenda. These regions include the Upper West, Upper East, Western and Brong Ahafo regions.
At the inauguration in Upper West region, the Regional Minister Alhaji Hamidu Sulemana revealed that he will do his very best to ensure that regular source of funding will be provided for the Road Maintenance Module under the National Youth Employment Programme.
He further expressed relief that the module has come to open up employment opportunities that will benefit majority of the youth, who are unemployed.
At the launch of the module in Upper East region, the Deputy Regional Minister Lucy Awuni called for a conscious and concerted effort from the various stake holders to support the module to succeed.
At the Western region, the Deputy Regional Minister Emelia Arthur expressed delight that the module has come to ease some of the unemployment concerns in the Region.
She further called on the beneficiaries to have a concerted effort that will ensure that projects are well maintained adding that there must be collaboration between government and Zeera Group to ensure the programme’s sustainability.
The Brong Ahafo region’s module launch was chaired the Deputy Regional Minister Eric Opoku who called on all the agencies under the ministry of roads and highways to support the programme, more especially with the release of roads for the beneficiaries to work on.
