Clergymen at Kwamo near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region say they are living in danger as they have become targets of armed robbers.

The local community has since this year witnessed several attacks on priests and pastors, some of whom have sustained various degrees of injuries.

The recent incident occurred on Tuesday night when the Head Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church at Odioum was attacked on his way home from church.

Rev. Emmanuel Darko, together with his family, was ambushed immediately after they entered their house on the outskirts of the town.

His daughter managed to escape and called on residents for help.

The two robbers made away with Gh¢5,000 cash, two laptops and two mobile phones.

Kwasi Seth, one of the residents who took Rev. Darko to the hospital, said he saw the pastor's daughter running towards his direction screaming that there were robbers in the house.

He said he and other bystanders heard gun shots, prompting them to contemplate going to the pastor's house.

"So I called three of my brothers to bring guns so we also attack them. But few minutes later, we saw the pastor himself coming this way with blood oozing all over his face.

"He was asking for the whereabouts of his wife and daughter so I managed to calm him down and took him to the hospital. Later we saw the police come in to rescue the wife", he said.

Residents are therefore worried the community is gradually becoming dangerous.

Rev. Darko is currently on admission at the Living Waters Hospital at Kwamo.

Residents spotted his wife with a swollen face and some bruises on her body.

She is also receiving treatment.

The Ejisu Police have arrested one suspect, Kwame Bismark, who is assisting with investigations.

A similar attack on a Roman Catholic Priest in the community happened few weeks ago.

The leadership of the Christian Council of Churches is worried at the incessant attacks on men of God in the community.

Vice Chairman of the Council, Presby Catechist Godfred Oduro, wants authorities to intensify security in the community to address the problem.

The Police are yet to comment on the incidents.
