Residents of Dansoman and its environs were beneficiaries of a free health screening exercise organized by the Rokmer Pharma Limited.
The exercise was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to respond to the health needs of the community.
About 700 people from the community benefited from the exercise, which saw them screened for blood pressure, sugar levels, malaria and other related conditions and provided free medicines.
During the exercise, those found to be in need of immediate medical attention were referred to hospital for further treatment.
Managing Director of Rokmer Pharma Ltd, Richard Acheampong said the event was aimed to improve the lives of people living in the community.
He indicated that, being in the community for 17 years, the exercise is part of the company’s efforts in fostering healthy communities where individual wellbeing is promoted for prosperity.

Mr. Acheampong who is also a pharmacist advised Ghanaians against quack pharmacists and always seek medical advice before taking any drug.
He explained that the duty of the pharmacist was to make sure that people were not just given medication but were also advised or counseled as to whether they needed further checks.
“The role of a pharmacy was to help identify those for whom simple pain killers could address their conditions and refer those who needed further treatment to the appropriate health centre” he added.
The Rokmer Pharma boss noted that, even though the Pharmacy Council was in charge of the regulatory activities, it was important every pharmacist adhere to it to ensure that the right thing was done.
Mr. Acheampong underscored the need for peer review mechanism in order to help each member achieve what was expected of each pharmacist.
