The Roman Ridge School won the Inter Schools Chess tourney organised by the Mentors Chess Academy in partnership with the Ghana Chess Association (GCA).
The five round Swiss Tournament, drew participation from DPS International, Ghana International School, Tema SOS, Basic International from Chokor, Merton International School, Jack and Jill and International Community School.
At the end of the competition held at the Roman Ridge School, it was the host, who topped ahead of Basic School from Chorkor with DPS International and Ghana International School following in that order.
The Mentors Chess Academy presented medals and a trophy to the Winning school and the second and third placed schools.
Mr David Acheampong, Director for Chess in Schools, of the Ghana Chess Association said “Chess has all the qualities needed to be an excellent teaching tool, that can be used to solve many educational and even life problems. We will be happy to assist any school to start chess clubs.”
