Ronaldo scored two goals in an action-packed Paulista State Championship match in front of almost 30,000 fans at the Pacaembu stadium in Sao Paulo.
The Brazilian superstar played the full ninety minutes for the first time since joining Corinthians from AC Milan, and he impressed with two goals to extend his personal tally to four goals in five games this season.
Corinthians fell behind to a Leandrinho goal in the first half, but Ronaldo drew them level moments later when he fired in a penalty-kick.
Ronaldo put Corinthians ahead in the 57th minute with a suberb individual goal. He beat two defenders and blasted the ball into the back of the net with his left boot.
The former Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan star looked very lively during the game, and created a number of clear-cut opportunities for his teammates.
Towards the end of the match Gum connected to a free-kick with a well-placed header to earn Ponta Preta a point.
Despite the draw, Corinthians remain in second position of the Paulista State Championship with 34 points, six points less than league leaders Palmeiras.
