The Chairman of the Odotobri Rural Bank, Mr. J. Owusu-Boadi, has stated that the business community has a role to play in sustaining the rural banks.
"Rural banking and rural banks has come to stay, and are now competing favourably with the traditionally known commercial banks," he said.
Mr. Owusu-Boadi said this when he led an eight-member Board of Directors of the bank to inspect work on the refurbishing of the bank's building at Obuasi.
The new storey-building, which is housing the Obuasi branch of the bank, has several offices, a banking hall with places for references, archives room, conference hall and a server room among others.
The Board Chairman said Odotobri rural bank was growing and needed to expand the agency's offices to accommodate the increasing number of customers.
Mr. G.F. Opoku, Supervising Manager, said the banking industry had become competitive hence the need to create an ideal business environment for the bank to be in competition.
"Your banking premises should be clean, neat and appealing, if you want to remain in the competition", he said.
Mr. Opoku emphasized that the bank had been accepted by 'Ghana Club 100' and that should encourage shareholders and other customers to continue to have faith and deal with the bank.
The Supervising Manager assured customers that computers would be installed at the Agency when work was finished to end the stress they go through especially when withdrawing their salaries at the end of the month.
