Western Cape province has the highest number of coronavirus deaths

South Africa has announced a record 24-hour increase of 572 coronavirus deaths.
The new deaths announced on Wednesday bring the total number of fatalities to 5,940.
Almost half the country's total number of deaths have been reported in the Western Cape province.
The majority of confirmed coronavirus cases are however in Gauteng province, the country's financial hub and epicentre of the pandemic.
The Western Cape province has the second highest number of confirmed cases.
South Africa currently has 394,948 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
