The District Planning Officer for Saboba Chereponi, Mr Alexander Tetteh has commended the Saboba Medical Centre for its key role in the provision of health care in the area.He said the medical centre which receives support from donor agencies as well as the district assembly handles most of the districts health care issues including that of neighbouring Togo.He said the Togolese usually crossed the border for medical consultation because according to them the services rendered in their country were expensive.Mr Tetteh, said the centre provides, maternal and child health care, surgical care, where major and minor operations are performed as well as an out-patient clinic, which houses the pharmacy, the laboratory and administration.He explained that the centre is run by the Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (AGREDS), a Church based NGO that coordinates all the development and relief programmes of the Assemblies of God, Ghana.According to him the centre was usually burdened with financial contraints.Mr Tetteh noted that while the Ministry of Health assist the hospital with the provision of personnel, the District Assembly sometimes supports the centre with the payment of extra duty allowances to prevent industrial strikesSource: ghanadistricts
