Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu run a wind aided 9.87 seconds in the 100 meter dash in his first outdoor race of the season.
The University of South Florida athlete, enjoyed a stellar indoor campaign, clocking an impressive 6.53 seconds in the 60m and earned his third First Team All-American honor.
Saminu outclassed the competition, finishing a whopping 0.16 seconds ahead of the nearest challenger.
His feat would’ve gone down as a new national 100m record, but for the illegal tailwind of up to +2.2 meters per second.
Saminu, who represented Ghana at the Paris Olympics, reaching the men’s 100m semifinals, will be hoping to book his spot at the World Championships scheduled for September, later this year, in Tokyo.
