The world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung is blurred the line between Smartphones and digital still cameras by merging them into a single device in its new Galaxy S4 Zoom, which is set to launch in Ghana later this month.
A statement from Samsung said the Galaxy S4 Zoom is the new innovative addition to the Galaxy S4 family, and it is more than a phone.
“It takes the body of a 4.3 inch Galaxy S4 mini and adds a 16MP CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom to create a new category in the market,” the statement said.
According to, Ryan Na, Sales Director for Handheld Products at Samsung Ghana, Smartphones with high quality cameras are becoming increasingly popular and this smart hybrid device is specifically designed to meet the demands of consumers.
Ryan continued that communication is becoming increasingly visual, with people wanting to capture and share their moments in the highest quality possible, but often do not have the space or inclination to carry a dedicated camera for this purpose, the logic behind the S4 Zoom is instead of carrying two devices, they need to carry one.
As part of its unique features that enhances the user experience of the GALAXY S4 Zoom, Samsung has included for the camera side the Zoom Ring feature. This is a control that sits on the outer portion of the lens and brings easy access to features. Zoom Ring can be used to activate the Quick Launch and shortcut features that launch the user into the camera interface and it can also be used to send an image while on an active phone call.
The 4.3-inch AMOLED device is powered by 1.5GHz dual-core processor with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and runs on latest Android Jelly Bean operating system. It houses 1.5GB RAM and 8GB storage capacity and can be expanded up to 64GB using microSD slot. This smart device runs a long lasting 2330 mAh battery and weighs 208 grams.
Samsung is seeking to extend its Galaxy models in a bid to cater to different people with variety of interests and the GALAXY S4 zoom is targeting technology buffs and social media enthusiasts.
“In Ghana the new Samsung GALXY S4 zoom will be officially unveiled on the 26th of July, this year,” the statement said.
Meanwhile the new Galaxy S4 handset itself continues to wow users with its own picture quality, Dual Shot, Sound and Shot, Drama Shot and Animated Photo features.
Dual Shot allows the use of both the rare and front cameras at the same time, making it possible for the one taking the shot to also be in the picture, whereas Sound and Shot allows the user to add an audio message to a static picture.
Drama Shot on the other hand, makes it possible for the Galaxy S4 to capture a series of picture of a moving subject and combine them into one dynamic time-lapse photo. For instance, if someone in about to kick a ball, Drama Shot allows the user to take pictures of when the person raises the leg through to when he kicks the ball and save the picture as such.
Animated Photo allows the user to animate on side of a particular photo and leave the other side static and original.
