Ghanaian Economist Samuel Kobina Annim has been appointed Director of the Africa Centre for Statistics (ACS) at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), at the D-1 level.
In a statement, the Commission confirmed that Mr. Annim "has received Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2010."
He also holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Cape Coast, obtained in 2002 and 1999, respectively.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Annim served as the Head (Government Statistician) of the Ghana Statistical Service.
He also worked at the University of Cape Coast as Head of the Department of Economics and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy. He has been a faculty member there since 2002.
At the international level, Mr. Annim “is the immediate past Co-Chair of the United Nations High Level Group on Partnership, Coordination and Capacity Building (UN-HLG PCCB)” and “the former Chair of the Executive Board and Board of the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21).”
