Members of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on Friday approved the nomination of Mr Samuel Sarpong as Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) during an election supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).
He polled 77 out of the 79 votes cast.
Mr Sarpong was the Ashanti Regional Zonal Head of Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
The members also elected Nana Kofi Senyah as Presiding Member after he polled 80 out of the 81 votes cast.
Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, pledged to support the assembly to enhance development of the metropolis and Region.
He urged them to bury their differences and come out with suggestions and initiatives to complement government’s efforts to improve the living standards of the citizenry.
Mr Sarpong and Nana Senyah expressed appreciation to the members for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work hard to develop the metropolis.
