Intellectual Property Attorney and general private legal practitioner, Sarah Norkor Anku, is set to launch her book on intellectual property dubbed ‘Monetising your creativity and innovation.’
The book, which will be launched on Tuesday, April 25, at the Kofi Annan IT Center, provides information on how to monetize one’s creativity and innovation using intellectual property rights.
Speaking on the launch, Norkor stated that the book is targeted at the Intellectual Property (IP) Consultant, who is also a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) said the book has been specially designed for the youth and is aimed at reducing the unemployment rate in the country.
“Basically, it's targeted at the youth but it is also useful for everyone including businesses, students because it is presented in a very acceptable and more friendly manner, which I believe if I make the information available to the youth, especially creative minds, will reduce the level of unemployment," she said.
"It seeks to create awareness among the youth in particular. It is presented in a form of a dialogue for easy understanding of the otherwise unfriendly and abstract subject of IPRs. The dialogue is situated within the African context using the mythical character Kwaku Ananse, the god of knowledge, to explain to students what the subject is all about," she added.

Presented in five unique chapters, each chapter has relevant information on how to monetise one's creative ideas.
Chapter one focuses on the generation of intellectual property (the creative ideas), providing information about all the IPRs, from patents through copyright to even Plant Variety Protection and traditional knowledge.
Chapter two provides information on how one can protect works of creativity and innovation so as to secure their rights in the created works.
Chapter three explains the various forms of IP commercialization, including contracts the IPR holders must look out for.
Chapter four focuses on enforcement of the IPRs including border measures, litigation and ADR. Chapter five touches on trending issues in IP, including AIs, blockchains, and NFTs, and concludes with some advice from Kwaku Ananse.
The event is set to come off at 9:00am.
