The Executive Director of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, S.P. Adamu says the Ghana School Feeding School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has now been upgraded to cater for over 1.4 million pupils across the country. According to Mr. Adama the programme is now focusing on the rural areas rather than the urban centres. The programme, at the beginning of the term, was suspended for re-organization in order to include more schools, but the CEO says the programme now feed 1.4 million mouths. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Current Affairs Programme, Ekosii-Sen Monday, he noted that under the re-organization, schools such as Achimota Primary and JHS and the Ministry of Health School have been excluded from the programme. “There are schools which are having less privileged pupils. Nima and Chorkor have also been included so we are on the right part” he stressed. He hinted that since 2010 the feeding programme is solely financed by the government of Ghana. “We received 50 million from last year’s budget and 10 million from the supplementary budget so the finances are available to work”. He said the GSFP is hoping that there will be more available funding so that the programme can achieve the purpose under which it was established.
