School for Life, an NGO, has congratulated Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency on his nomination as Minister-designate for Education.
School for Life, in a press statement, signed by its Director, Madam Wedad Sayibu and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, expressed its support for Mr Iddrisu in addressing issues in the country’s educational sector.
The statement said, “As a civil society organisation working to ensure that education is accessible to all Ghanaian children and that quality is realised in the public schools, we assure you of our unflinching support in addressing the issues in Ghana’s education sector.”
It said, “Your exemplary record as a student leader and advocate for equitable public education financing remains a testament to your commitment to the education sector. Your efforts in championing students’ rights and pushing for reforms in education policy have inspired countless Ghanaians.”
It highlighted some critical areas that required attention, including public education financing, infrastructure development, prioritisation of basic education, teacher training and motivation and curriculum implementation.
The statement called for the expansion of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Complementary Basic Education and effective teacher deployment and community participation to enhance accountability and transparency in school management.
President John Mahama, last week, nominated Mr Haruna Iddrisu as Minister-designate for Education.
