The Central Regional Communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC),Bernard Allotey Jacobs has called the bluff of the son of Ghana’s first president, Dr Sekou Nkrumah describing him as a 'cunning' politician.
According to Allotey Jacobs, Sekou Nkrumah just wants to couch a niche for himself as a controversial politician in the country with his recent comments.
Sekou Nkrumah has been in the news making controversial comments about the performance of the ruling government and questioning the ability of his sister, Samia Nkrumah as Chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP).
What was more shocking was when Sekou Nkrumah openly declared support for the flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo whom he believes would provide inspirational leadership for Ghana ahead of the 2012 elections.
Dr. Nkrumah who resigned from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the Mills-led government does not deserve a second term in office given the abysmal performance they have exhibited in just two and half years in office.
But Allotey Jacobs who was a panelist on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday said “he just wants to build a political image around himself that he is Kwame Nkrumah’s son. Sekou should not be taken serious; he is a shadow of himself”.
He stated that the recent comments by Sekou Nkrumah is a demonstration of how confused and desperate he is to align himself to another political party.
To buttress his point, Allotey Jacobs cited the flimsy explanation Sekou gave after he resigned from the NDC and his subsequent endorsement of Nana Akufo-Addo, as clear examples of how bamboozled he (Sekou)has become.
The NDC man observed that Sekou has failed his late father Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah with the current position he has taken to criticize unnecessarily instead of contributing his quota to building a better Ghana.
Allotey Jacobs said Sekou Nkrumah’s criticisms of his sister as chairperson of CPP does not come to him as a surprise because that has been his hallmark.
