The Sekyere East District Chief Executive, Kwadwo Addai, is seeking the intervention of Zongo chiefs and opinion leaders in the Ashanti region to resolve disagreement between him and youth of Effiduasi Zongo.
The offices of the assembly were closed to the public last Monday for fear of attack by Effiduasi Zongo youth.
This was after one of them was allegedly shot and killed by police during the NDC constituency election for the Effiduasi-Asokore.
A raging power struggle within the ruling party saw supporters of former Constituency Chairman attacked and vandalized property at the offices of the district assembly in protest of a decision to relocate a Muslim cemetery.
The violence left one person seriously injured, but police failed to make any arrest though the DCE accused the party chairman of masterminding the attack.
Matters got to a head on when a 30-year old man from the Zongo Community was hit by a bullet believed to have been fired by police who were trying to quell a riot at the constituency election.
A seven member committee was set last week to investigate the raging conflict, there are indications the feuding parties are not co-operating.
Mr. Addai told Nhyira FM that the Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs has the capacity to restore peace in the area.
He called for co-operation from the constituents for a socio-economic development.
