Former Under 20 coach of Ghana, Sellas Tetteh has passed his first major assignment, qualifying the Amavubi Stars of Rwanda into the Championship of Africa tournament.
Rwanda beat Tanzania 1-0 in the second leg match played at the Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda on Sunday qualifying via a 2-1 aggregate score line.
The goal was scored by midfielder Haruna Niyonzima sending the packed stadium bolstered by President Paul Kagame and Prime Minister Bernard Makuza into complete jollity.
The victory means a lot to coach Sellas Tetteh whose ambitions of handling the Black Stars was dashed with the appointment of Milovan Rajevac.
Rwanda joins hosts Sudan, holders DR Congo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Algeria, Cameroon, Gabon and Niger for the finals to be held from February 4 – 25, 2011.
