Black Satellites head Coach Sellas Tetteh has vowed to do all he can to repeat the heroics of 2009 by winning FIFA Youth Championship for the second time.
Tetteh’s side has advanced to this stage of the competition on the back of some massive comebacks against Portugal in the Round of 16 and Chile where a goal in time added on of extra-time saw Ghana through.
The manager was addressing the media as part of the pre-match preparations for Wednesday’s semi-final clash.
The Satellites go into the game with first choice centre backs Lawrence Lartey and and Joseph Larweh together with star midfielder Moses Odjer unavailable for selection as the trio picked up second cautions making them ineligible for the titanic semi-final clash.
The gaffer though remains confident of putting out a side capable of their opponents on match day.
“There is a lot of worry that the side is missing three key players. Football is a team sport and I trust the group of players here to make things happen on matchday. There is always a chance that they would come in and even perform better than the supposedly first choice players. I have a lot of belief in the boys and I know who ever gets the nod will make the nation proud.
We are approaching this game with all the seriousness it deserves and we simply would not allow the same side to beat us twice in the same competition. That I can vouch for.”
The Satellites would attempt to make it to the final for the second time in four years when they take on the French in the first of two semi-finals at Bursa’s Ataturk Stadium on Wednesday. Kickoff is 15:00 GMT.
