The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, has called on parents in the region to appreciate and reciprocate government's huge investment in the capitation grant and school feeding programmes by sending their children to school.He said the current investment on the two programmes would be "meaningless" if parents did not play their roles by ensuring that their children were in school.Nana Arthur made the call when he addressed the chiefs and people of Twifo-Mampong to end his two day-tour of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira district.The visit, which took him to Ayaase, Ati-Morkwa, Twifo-Praso, Twifo Mampong, Twifo-Hemang and Jukwa, was to enable him to interact with the people and also inspect a number of European Union projects being executed in the district.The regional minister said education was the only legacy parents could leave for their children and expressed concern about their failure to make use of it.Nana Arthur was also unhappy about the way children in rural areas spent their time attending funerals instead of studying; this he noted was one of the causes of the poor educational standards in many of the rural schools.Source: GNA
