Kofi Kpaliga,70, who took his wife for dead after allegedly slashing her with machete several times, has committed suicide, Police in Ho have confirmed.
But Christiana Kpaliga, his wife, survived and is in stable condition, officials at the Volta Regional Hospital told the Ghana News Agency.
An eyewitness said neighbours came to Christiana’s help on hearing her scream for help at about 2200 hours on Monday and found her in a pool of blood.
The eyewitness said the couple often quarreled during which Kofi threatened to kill Christiana and commit suicide.
He said the group which sent Christiana to hospital returned to find Kofi dead hanging from the rafters in the room.
A source at the Municipal Police Station confirmed the incident.
As at 1030 hours on Tuesday, the body of Kpaliga was still hanging in the room attracting several people to the place.
