Men are more likely to drop dead from a heart attack due to lots of sex without frequent exercise to train their hearts.
This is according to Dr. Andre Kwesi Kumah of the Eden Family Hospital in Accra on Wednesday.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Health check programme- sex and heart diseases- Dr. Andre Kwesi Kumah maintained that lack of exercise especially by obese persons who indulge in sex are prone to heart attack and untimely deaths saying, “…this is due to the drastic changes that occur during the functioning of the heart in connection with the male sexual organ”.
He indicated cigarette smoking, intake of hard drugs; cocaine, and abnormal health conditions such as emotional stress, exposure to extreme cold, among others as some of the causes of heart disease.
He has therefore recommended frequent exercise to all men saying, “this will put the heart to a frequent test to stand the test of time during and after an extreme hard work”.
Touching on the symptoms of heart attack, Dr. Andre Kumah mentioned rapid and irregular heartbeats, discomfort radiation on the back, heaviness, pain in the chest, arm, and below the breastbone, extreme weakness, shortness of breath and choking feelings in the throat as some of the numerous but basic symptoms that everyone could watch out to know if they are at a risk of acquiring the disease.
He however advised people with the symptoms to avoid intake of fatty food and visit a credible health center for a checkup.
Heart attack happens when the flow of oxygen-rich blood fails to reach a section of the heart muscles.
