It seems Shatta Wale’s time in court may not be over just yet.
An Accra Circuit Court on Monday adjourned the Reggae/Dancehall artistes’ case where he is being tried for publication of false news to April 19, 2022.
According to a report by GNA, the case was moved to another date at the request of the counsel for the ‘My Level’ hitmaker, Jerry Avenogbo.
Mr Avenogbo, told the publication he officially informed the court about the singer’s inability to show up in court for the trial.
He explained that Shatta Wale was not in the country.
The musician early in March had travelled to Ohio in the United States of America to perform with colleague Medikal. He is however yet to return to the country.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah on October 19, 2021, turned himself in after the police had declared him wanted.
The singer had allegedly fabricated a story that he had been shot and received treatment, which was a hoax.
He is being charged for publication of fake news, together with his other accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope, Eric Venator, alias Gangee, and Iddriss Yussif.
Shatta Wale is on ¢100,000 self-recognisance bail while his accomplices are on ¢100,000 bail with a surety each.
Meanwhile, his colleague Medikal who was arrested around the same time for brandishing a gun was convicted in February 2022.
This was after the rapper pledged guilty to the charge of unlawful public display of arms.
The court presided by Emmanuel Essandoh after the guilty plea sentenced Medikal to 300 penalty units. This amounts to ¢3,600.
