Students of Kwahu Ridge Senior High School have appealed to the Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES) to transfer the headmistress of the school, Ms Anita Jackson, to ensure peace and sanity in the school. The students said this when some of them tried to drag the Headmistress from her office at the weekend but the intervention of the Kwahu South District Director of Education, Mr Abraham Adjettey Sowah, and teachers brought the situation under control. The students said while the school was facing acute water shortage and lack of infrastructure such as dinning hall and dormitories which led to a demonstration in November last year, the headmistress was asking the students to contribute GH¢1 per student to engage the services of an inspirational speaker, Mr Dei Ntumi, to give inspirational talk to the students. The students said while a committee's report on the demonstration was being implemented with the transfer of some teaching and non-teaching staffs such as the storekeeper, matron, accountant and some teachers, the Headmistress is still at post and called for the full implementation of the committee's report. Addressing the students, the District Director of Education advised the students to channel their grievances through the appropriate quarters for amicable solution and avoid taking the law into their own hand. He urged the students to give education authorities ample time to study the report and implement it since the transfer of the Headmistress would come from the Director General of GES in Accra and that the transfer of the non-teaching staff was a regional affair and not from the committee's report. Mr Sowah advised the students to concentrate on their studies and leave the problems of the school to the educational authorities to solve, adding that the water problem had affected the entire Obo Community and efforts were being made to solve them.
