Award-winning singer and songwriter Simi is known for her soulful voice and honest lyrics, but in a recent interview with VJ Adams on Off the Top, she gave fans an even deeper look into her personality.
From her perfectionist approach to music production to her easy-going fashion preferences and genuine bond with rapper Falz, Simi held nothing back in this refreshingly real conversation.
When asked about long-time collaborator Falz, Simi didn’t hold back her admiration.
“Falz is one of my favourite rappers in Nigeria. He is very underrated because he jokes — people don’t understand how talented he is,” she said.
“I am always excited to work with him. I don’t have a lot of friends in the industry; he is one of my very few friends.”
Simi also described herself as a perfectionist — a trait that has shaped her music journey deeply.
“Even without being able to mix and master, I’m a perfectionist,” she admitted.
“I think that’s actually why I learnt to mix and master. I want to hear certain things, and I know that if I keep going back to someone, I might annoy them.”
On her fashion choices, the Duduke crooner kept it real.
“I just like comfort. I just want to be comfortable. My ideal outfit is like T-shirt and shorts. I am very chilled. I don’t like makeup. I don’t like wigs. I’m a braids babe,” she said.
When asked if she would spend N10 million on jewellery, she responded without hesitation: “Yes.” On whether she would spend N20 million, she said with a laugh, “Probably.”
