The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nasara Coordinator for Sissala West Constituency, Musah Walaika Iddrisu, is battling for his life at the Upper West Regional Hospital after sustaining severe machete wounds.
Brother of the victim, Razak Bagaya confirmed the severity of the attack to JoyNews.
“Musah is currently at the hospital and he is in critical condition. He cannot eat, he cannot talk,” he said.
He revealed that this is the second of such attacks on Musah Iddrisu.
“The polling station executive election day, he was attacked and they sent him to hospital. He was later discharged and a day before yesterday, he was attacked again,” he said.
Musah Walaika was allegedly attacked by party thugs on Monday, April 18 at Gwollu in the constituency of a faction in the party's internal elections.
According to reports, he was accused of burying a talisman to alter the outcome of the upcoming NPP constituency executive elections in favour of his favourite candidates, hence the attack.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was found lying helplessly in a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Sissala West Constituency Nasara Coordinator.
The two suspects are reported to be part of a group of young men numbering 10 who attacked Musah Walaika Iddrisu.
