The Bibiani Magistrate’s Court, has granted GH¢5,000 bail to six cocoa farmers from Sefwi-Wiawso for allegedly damaging an Opel Saloon car belonging to Nana Nkua Okumdom, 11, Omanhene of Sefwi-Wiawso, Traditional Area.They also assaulted Kwadwo Ackah and inflicted knife wounds on Kakyire Baidoo.The court ordered them to sign a bond to be of good behaviour.The accused persons are, Kwabena Berchie 33, Kwame Amoateng 37, Kofi Fofie 38, Kofi Nkrumah 40, Yaw Frederick 31 and Osei Yaw 26.They pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on May 29.Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Dickson Daketsey that on April 24,this year, at about 12pm, Nana Okumdom visited Kessekrom where he lived.He said on his way to his residence at Sefwi Dwenase, Nana Okumdom, stopped in front of Liberty FM Station at Sefwi-Wiawso to visit his grandmother where he was attacked by a group of people who also caused damage to his private car.Police Chief Inspector Amponsah said in the evening of the same day Ackah and Baidoo were assaulted by Berchie and Fofie who inflicted knife wounds on them.He said it took the intervention of some military and police personnel to rescue the victims who were later rushed to Sefwi-Wiawso Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.The prosecution said the accused persons were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.Source: GNA
