A six-member committee has been set up to draw a timetable for the rationing of power in order to inject some predictability into a worsening power crisis, which has been linked to tragic deaths and created a dilemma for many businesses.
Joy News sources have been tightlipped over the composition of the committee.
But even the committee will face an uphill task in drawing the table because it is not sure how much power is available for distribution.
Power shortfalls keep fluctuating from 400 to 600 megawatts, making it difficult to draw up a reliable timetable.
Residential areas are in principle getting 24 hours of power supply and 12 hours of power outage. But in practice, it is much worse.
Some residents have been subjected to six days without power.
The erratic supply has been linked to the death of a 7-month old baby in Kasoa Galilea in the Greater Accra region. The baby was burnt to death in a fire outbreak following a power surge which set the bed the baby was lying on ablaze.
