Ghana, today celebrated 64 years of being a sovereign state after gaining its independence from British colonial rule.
President Akufo-Addo, who addressed the nation from the Jubilee House said the country continues to be the beacon of hope for Africa and an inspiration to all West African states.
Sharing their excitement and joy, some Ghanaians and well-wishers all over the world took to social media to spread and express their love for the country and how far the nation has progressed since its birth.

It is, however, not surprising since Ghana, formerly known as Gold Coast is noted for its hospitality and peaceful governance.

Although some celebrations such as the school parade was altered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the national event still left many in awe when the President presided over the military parade.


Ghana's independence day celebration has resulted in the "flag challenge", where many users on Twitter speak of how proud they are to be associated with the red, gold, green and black star flag designed by Theodosia Okoh.
