The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has promoted a young soldier, Private Teye-Tsu Asare Solomon, to the rank of Lance Corporal with immediate effect.
The promotion was announced at an all-ranks durbar at the Burma Hall on Friday, 11th July, 2025.
In addition to his promotion, L/Cpl Teye-Tsu has been nominated to serve with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) coupled with other rewards.
The recognition comes after he rejected a substantial bribe from illegal miners at his duty post at the Bibiani Gold Mine in the Western Region.

Private Teye-Tsu, 30, who serves with the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces at Burma Camp in Accra, was on official guard duty at the Bibiani Gold Mine late last year when he encountered a group of artisanal miners.

The group reportedly attempted to lure him with a significant financial inducement in exchange for access to restricted galamsey pits.
Announcing the reward, Lieutenant General Agyapong urged personnel to always remember their oath to the state and act professionally.

The CDS emphasised that just as misconduct deserves punishment, exemplary conduct like that demonstrated by L/Cpl Teye-Tsu deserves recognition and commendation.
