Pastor Kayode, head pastor of the Awakeners Chapel International located at Ablekuma in Accra, has stated that some gospel artistes in the industry are not committed Christians.
Speaking in an interview, the man of God stressed that to do gospel music was a calling and that every gospel musician must have Christ as his or her foundation and also study the Bible to guide them in their day-to-day activities.
Pastor Kayode noted, “Gospel musicians are supposed to be soul winners for Christ. Everything we do must be in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we must do it, being grateful and showing gratitude to him through our songs.”
The Nigerian-born Ghana-based pastor during the interview stated that gospel music is supposed to inspire and motivate Christians and non-Christians alike in their daily lives so that they could experience the love of God, “but today, most of the gospel music or songs do not inspire and motivate the people because they lack good messages and the blessings of God.”
The enterprising gospel singer also disclosed that the gospel music industry in Ghana had seen a number of enterprising gospel musicians “whose presence in the gospel music scene have changed the lives of many people.”
He also claimed that most gospel musicians today have rather diverted their attention to making money at the expense of saving souls for Christ.
“Our gospel artistes do not even research and study the word of God before going to the studios to record their albums and their songs are failing to comfort the broken hearted in the society,” he lamented.
