Ghanaian male rights advocate, Ethel Adjololo Marfo, also known as BoysDocta Ethel, has sent out a message to ‘boy moms’ across the globe to not use their sons as emotional dumpsters.
During the relationship segment of Prime Morning on Joy Prime television the expert disclosed that a lot of mothers tend to burden their sons with their emotional needs due to the lack of male affection they may not be getting.
“If you are a mother don’t make your boy your surrogate husband. Some women are turning their boys into these shadow husbands where they are putting their emotional burdens on the boy,” she said.
She went on to caution that in most cases by the time the boy is old enough to marry he would be emotionally exhausted from the burdens his mother gave him.
“When he has to leave and marry you’re still there in the background and so having to leave to build his home is now a challenge because he’s still handling your emotional problems. He can’t just be able to take care of another woman he’s legally responsible for,” Ethel added.
The Founding Director for JSA Boys mentorship, explained that even though it was important to let the boys be themselves or give them male mentorships, it was equally important to not let just anyone around their kids.
