The Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has inspected newly acquired surgical equipment valued at more than GH₵500,000 at the South Tongu District Hospital in Sogakope of the Volta region.
He described the intervention as a "strategic investment my constituency’s healthcare infrastructure."
The equipment, secured through the MP’s lobbying efforts, is expected to strengthen surgical services and enhance the quality of care delivered at the facility.

During the inspection on Friday, February 20, Mr Lukutor expressed satisfaction with the installation process and indicated that the upgraded theatre capacity would significantly reduce referrals to other hospitals.
He observed that equipping the district hospital with modern surgical tools would ensure timely medical interventions, improve patient outcomes and ease the financial and emotional burden on families who would otherwise travel long distances for specialist care.
According to him, improving access to quality healthcare remains a central pillar of his development agenda for South Tongu.

In a related development, the MP donated office chairs and a 3-in-1 printer to the District Court at Dabala following concerns about logistical constraints affecting its operations.
The donation is intended to enhance administrative efficiency and support the smooth running of judicial processes within the district, he told news reporters.
Mr Lukutor stated that strengthening institutions within health and justice sectors is critical to advancing socio-economic development.

He stressed that responsive public services and well-resourced institutions are fundamental to safeguarding the wellbeing and rights of constituents.
The twin interventions, he noted, reflect his continued commitment to reinforcing essential public services and promoting sustainable development across the South Tongu constituency.
