Tamale North parliamentarian, Alhassan Suhuyini, has said the Office of Special Prosecutor is becoming the butt of a joke.
The MP said although the anti-corruption campaigner is an experienced lawyer and very qualified for the position, he doubts Amidu can handle the sensitive nature of the position.
His comment follows reports of recent fallouts between the former Attorney General and his staff.
On Monday, Joy News reported that some staff of the anti-corruption office have been indicted for allegedly stealing fuel.
On Tuesday, the OSP was also in the news for indefinitely suspending one of his staff, PW/D. Sgt. Yaa Boakyewaa on allegations of insubordination and leaking documents.
Mr Amidu is said to have described the police officer as “unfit for his office” and wants action taken against her after he had discovered that she had in the past been involved in a sex tape controversy.
But reacting to these developments, Mr Suhuyini told Kojo Yankson on the AM Show on Joy News channel Wednesday, that Mr Amidu’s temper has the potential to drive him to act recklessly.
Mr Suhuyini said since Mr Amidu had levelled allegations without enough basis against people in the past there is a possibility of repeating the same in his current office.
According to him, there hasn’t been any concrete evidence to suggest that the officer Mr Amidu has suspended is the one who leaked the said document.
Expressing reservations about Mr Amidu’s current position, the MP said he initially voted against his approval when he was vetted by the Appointment Committee because of his temper.

Mr Suhunyini said he also filed a suit challenging his eligibility for the office but changed his vote after being prevailed upon to do so.
The MP said he feels vindicated when he hears of the recent reports.
