Minister-designate for Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has charged the Black Stars to put the disappointment of their fourth place finish in the 2013 African Cup of Nations behind them and concentrate on their impending assignments, which include qualifying for the Brazil 2014 world cup. Ahead of the tournament, the Black Stars were expected to end the country’s long wait for continental silverware. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is asking the team and its officials to forge ahead and focus on the tasks at hand. “We have a crucial match against Sudan in March, so we must learn lessons from this competition and begin to prepare ourselves psychologically for that match,” he declared. “The World Cup is a bigger stage so let’s focus on that because if we are able to qualify and participate well, I’m sure that will wipe away the tears and the heart ache of Ghanaians.” Addressing the team directly, he said, “I’m throwing a challenge to all of you as you go back to your respective teams, try to organize yourselves and put this behind you and begin to focus and prepare for the next crucial matches that we must win at all cost.” The Black Stars' next assignment will be the World Cup qualifier against Sudan in March.
