Ligbidi retains MTN CEO Invitational Golf award

Kwame Ligbidi replicated his last year fine form to retain the  MTN CEO Invitational Golf  top most prize in this year's event  at the
Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono on  Saturday.

Playing on a single handicap of 2, he shot 35 in front and 34 at the back to amass a 67net score to beat SK Ayornu by two strokes in the men’s A event.

Ayornu, on the other hand beat BS Seo on count back in second place, while former Tema Country Club captain Leonard Kwaku Okyere and Kwame Kronzu followed in that order.

 The men’s Group B event saw Kusum Appiah, 68net shooting 49 in front and 47 at the back to  beat  Hans Uekert  on count back.

 Achimota’s Joy Arkutu recorded a 73net score to win the ladies A category after  shooting 42 in front  46 at the back to neat Ama
Morgan by just a stroke. EH Hong picked the ultimate prize in  the men’s event with a 70net score with Maureen Akuaku following with 72 net.

It was Akwasi Poku, who finished as the men’s Longest Drive winner, while Leticia Amponsah-Mensah won the ladies event.Michael Darko picked the men’s closest-to-the-pin prize, while Ama Morgan won the ladies category.

The first four winners and those who excelled in various categories received trophies and special souvenirs from the telecommunication
company, MTN.

MTN CEO, Serame Taukobong pledged his outfit’s continued support for sports and golf in particular in the country saying, “We will continue to rally behind sports in the country because sports promotes health, and every healthy nation is productive one.

“Throughout the year, we have created many sporting platforms for our loyal customers and others to interact and exercise as well. We thank all who responded to our call. Next year’s edition will be bigger and
better.”

Club captain Akwasi Poku commended MTN as the biggest supporter of the Club.The 18-hole event, the last sporting event of MTN was preceded by a well-attended golf clinic.

Meanwhile, MTN donated a 32,000 Cedis worth Mower to the Club.
