Young Ghanaian footballers, under the Ngorli Ball and Brain Project, have been selected to partake in this year’s Jefferson Cup tournament in Richmond Virginia, United States of America (USA).
The players drafted into two teams Nkrumah Boys (under 11) and Mandela Boys (under 13) and will join other youth teams from the USA for the tournament scheduled for March.
The Jefferson Cup tournament is ranked the #1 youth tournaments for boys and girls in the United States of America.
The Ball and Brain Project under the auspices of Ngorli strives to create and nurture a valuable soccer learning experience and academic accomplishments for young children in Ghana. Currently, 354 underprivileged young boys and girls within Achimota and its surrounding communities are benefitting directly from the project.
The Ghanaian teams’ acceptance into the tournament brings them opportunities to explore and develop their skills while opening up for scholarships to pursue their academics in the USA.
Ngorli is a nonprofit organization focused on impacting communities and the world at large through education, skill development and community participation. Since 2011 when the organization was launched, over 20,000 children in various communities in three countries have benefitted in the Literacy and STEM Programmes.
