The Tema TDC court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of four managing directors of their companies operating in Tema for defaulting payment of Social Security contributions to the tune of ¢123,186,524.
They are Eric Atiemo Awuku of Eridan Exim Company Limited who owes ¢15.286,503 million, Robert Amaa Amartey of Adventcom Limited, ¢2,514,304, Abdul Aziz Alhassan of Worldwide Forex Bureau, ¢47,647,818 million and Peace Aku Akoto of Smile Image, ¢57,737,897.
Prosecuting Mrs Victoria Yawson of the Tema branch of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) said the four accused persons have since October 2006 to June 14 2007 failed to settle their contributions and all efforts to get them for negotiations have proved futile.
The acting Tema Branch Manager of the SSNIT, Mr Solomon T. Adusu, said a total of 345 establishments are indebted to SSNIT to the tune of 9 billion cedis.
He said 23 of the establishments who owe ¢3.6 billion are still negotiating to pay their contributions while one billion cedis had been retrieved and the rest show up to give excuses.
