The Old Students Association of St. John’s Grammar School (JOSA) have petitioned the Regional Minister to halt the siting of a market square around the school.
This follows reports that the Ga North Municipal Assembly has planned to establish a market behind the green belt stretching from the school’s new dining hall to behind the girls dormitory to the Mile 7 area.
Some alumni of the school and other members of the public expressed concern about the impact of such a decision on teaching and learning.
In view of the above, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of JOSA, the Old Students Association, wrote to the Regional Minister, the Ga North MCE and other stakeholders to intervene in the matter.
“The NEC in consultation with the CoE, has written to the Regional Minister, the MCE (Ga North), Chairman of the School Board and other relevant stakeholders of the school to intervene and halt (rescind) the decision”, portions of a communique cited by Myjoyonline.com reads.
It also added that a committee would be required for a broader consultation meeting in the coming days.
This committee would be made of the CoE, NEC, JOSA Central Committee (JCC) members, and other JOSA members in high positions.
All JOSA members were thus, entreated to remain calm and be rest assured as the NEC gets a revocation of this decision.
