Stakeholders in the renewable solar energy value chain want more government support to be able to upscale and help with the energy transition agenda.
This is aimed to fast track energy transition on the African continent as well as boosting economic activities for artisans in the energy sector.
Speaking to Journalists after a training programme for solar installers in Accra, Chief Executive for PP Engineering and Trading, Prince Adomako Mensah, believe that the energy sector is challenged with inadequate funds and technical know how to operate the modern technologies across Africa hence a boost from government sectors will go a long way.
“We have challenges with warranty services and sometimes the cost of the materials and equipment for installing the solar systems which becomes a disincentive for many to venture into the area. So far our partners thus Goodwe are helping with some inverters which can be replaced whenever there’s any defect on any of the products and we believe that this will go a long way to help in attracting more people but we still need support for other African countries that are aiming to transition” he said.
The training is aimed at updating installers on some new products introduced by partners, Goodwe energy who are manufacturers of solar equipment and modern lighting technology.
The programme attracted over 70 installers from the solar industry, emphasizing the growing interest and investment in renewable energy solutions in Ghana.
The event featured a presentation by Elvis Oduor Oluoch , Technical Service Engineer for East and West Africa from GoodWe Europe GmbH, who introduced a diverse range of solar inverter products.
These innovations are designed to enhance efficiency and reliability in solar energy systems, catering to the increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
The gathering also served as a platform for installers to gain insights into the latest technologies and best practices in the solar industry, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among professionals.
This initiative aligns with Ghana's broader goals of expanding renewable energy usage and promoting sustainable development
