Standard Chartered Bank in collaboration with Vital Voices and Mentoring Women Ghana, a non-governmental organization has organized a mentorship programme for young women from various tertiary institutions to mark this year's International Women's Day.
The programme forms part of the bank’s efforts to groom young women across the country.
The young girls were paired with their mentors who are staff of StanChart based on their interests, goals and aspirations and aims.
Speaking at the organization’s annual walk, founder of Mentoring Women Ghana, Ms. Brigitte Dzogbenuku underscored the need for women in leadership to encourage girls to work hard to achieve their dreams in life.
According to her, young girls need older people who are well-established and experienced to guide them in choosing right careers, handling of relationship issues and helping them to overcome general difficulties faced by women of all ages across the world.
Ms. Dzogbenuku who was 2016 vice presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is certain with the right guidance, Ghana for have the first woman president in the near future.
She also thanked the bank for their immense support given over the years to the organisation's cause for women mentorship.
Some of the mentees shared their experience and the knowledge they have acquired during the mentoring process.
They pledged their commitment to put everything they have learnt into practice and be ready to take up the mantle from the older generation.
