The senior national team the Black Stars tamed their Lesotho counterparts at the ongoing 2010 World Cup qualifiers by beating them 3 goals to 2.The match, played on Sunday in South Africa left many a Ghanaian soccer fan disappointed despite the win.The play of the Stars was not only unimpressive but also characterised by complacency which gave two goals to Lesotho on silver Plata. The Stars scored their first goal through number seven man Laryea Kingston in the 15th minute of the match. He received the ball in the midst of Lesotho players and managed to wade through them, drove a powerful shot and caught the goal keeper off guard.Jr. Manuel Agogo made it two for the Stars before the end of the first half. The game resumed with the Crocodiles looking more organised a side than the Stars. But they were disorganised by Agogo’s header which fetched the third goal for Ghana. With barely two or three minutes to go, the Stars thought they had it all sealed so they started to play theatricals with the ball. The Crocodiles of Lesotho however had other ideas. They surprised the sluggish Ghanaian side with two successive goals.
No one knows what would have happened had there been two more minutes to be played. The Stars play Gabon next Sunday.Story by Malik Abass Daabu
