Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party is asking his supporters to remain calm as the Electroal Commission goes through the process of announcing the winner of the Wednesday's election.
He was however confident that when that time comes for the declaration, it will be none other than himself who would be acclaimed.
Speaking to anxious party supporters who thronged his Nima residence Thursday, the NPP leader thanked five of his competitors, PPP leader Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, PNC's Dr Edward Mahama, Independent candidate Joseph Osei Yeboah, NDP's Nana Konadu and CPP's Ivor Greenstreet all of whom he said had already congratulated him.
The only person left on the list of presidential competitors is the incumbent President John Mahama, whose general secretary held a concurrent press conference to acclaim him as potential winner of the election.
Nana Addo was in no doubt that the five competitors will play a role in the building Ghana project, once the EC comes up with her declaration.
Election ended at 5:00pm Wednesday with few hitches and was largely peaceful. However the collation of the results has been problemation.
Over ten hours after the polls closed not a single certified constituency results had been released by the EC, a situation which has raised tension across the country.
There has however been a contest of press conferences by the two leading political parties all of whom are claiming to be winners of the election.
The NPP supporters are the most vociferous and have taken over the street jubilating what they say is victory.
Nana Akufo-Addo urged the supporters to be calm and wait for the EC to formally declare the winner of the election.
