A 25-year-old farmer, Jacob Kwasi, also called Gaagana who allegedly robbed two women of their moneys and personal effects in Buri in the Upper West Region, in February, this year, was arrested when he was spotted wearing one of the stolen cloths.
Kwasi has since been jailed 18 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Wa High Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Apenkwa.
Kwasi stoned one of the women before making away with GH¢650 and their personal belongings.
He pleaded not guilty to robbery but was found guilty by the court.
Prosecuting, police Inspector Steven Frimpong said at about 9.30 p.m. on February 2, last year, Adwoa Naaji, the complainant and her sister, Mary Vulnuzuuri, who were returning from Kumasi alighted at Samanbo junction en-route to Buri, a village in the Upper West region when they saw some light behind them from a vehicle.
He said the accused person and two others currently at large, caught up with them and ordered them to surrender all their monies and personal belongings.
He said, Adowa sensing danger took to her heels but she was hit with a stone by one of the robbers and she fell, down unconscious.
Following that, they went ahead and robbed them of their money and their personal belongings and bolted away, he added.
Inspector Frimpong said Adwoa's sister then rushed Naaji to the Wa Regional Hospital where she was treated and discharged.
At about 1:30p.m the next day, Adwoa went to Samanbo junction and spotted the accused wearing one of their stolen cloths and raised alarm and Jacob was arrested and handed over to the police.
